Course details

Each Unit has a credit value. You will need to achieve 13 credit values to achieve a Level 1 ITQ Certificate in IT User Skills. The Units and their individual credit values are summarised below.

Improving productivity using IT

Credit value: 3 (Mandatory)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Planning an IT task
  • Choosing software programmes
  • Reviewing your work.

Using email

Credit value: 2 (Optional)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Create and send email messages
  • Use ‘netiquette’ to get the most out of your email
  • Use your email address book
  • Do more with email.

Spreadsheet software

Credit value: 3 (Optional)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Use spreadsheet software
  • Create and use functions and formulae
  • Create graphs and charts
  • Format your spreadsheets.

Word processing software

Credit value: 3 (Optional)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Creating a new document
  • Entering text, numbers and symbols
  • Inserting image files and using tables
  • Formatting documents.

Database software

Credit value: 3 (Optional)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Set up a database
  • Enter data accurately
  • Create records in your database
  • Do more with your data
  • Create and print reports.

Presentation software

Credit value: 3 (Optional)

In this unit you will cover the following:

  • Create a new presentation
  • Use a design template
  • Control your presentation
  • Finish your presentation.

  • You must have been an EU resident for at least 3 years
